Bank of England update with Blusource

I was fortunate to chair another very interesting Roundtable discussion in December 2020, which included an economic update from Rosie Smith, the East Midlands Agent for the Bank of England.

We were joined by a mixture of Business owners, Finance Directors and senior business figures discussing the impacts on businesses during the covid crisis as well as the challenges ahead with Brexit.

There was a mix of results from the businesses as you might expect, but an upbeat tone with vaccines in the pipeline and about to be distributed.

Topics of discussion included commercial property; changes in spending habits; rising unemployment and an increasing skills gap with a greater future demand for compliance and digital skills; difficulty in pricing for exports due to lack of clarity around tariffs; negative interest rates and quantitive easing.
