Assistant Accountant

Salary: £33,000 to £36,000
Contract: 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract
Start: ASAP, ideally to allow for a handover

Blusource Recruitment is working with an established and growing business to recruit an Assistant Accountant for an initial 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is a hands-on position within a busy finance function, offering plenty of variety and the opportunity to get involved in detailed reconciliations, multi-currency accounting and month-end processes.

The business is looking for someone who enjoys working with numbers, has strong Excel skills and is comfortable investigating and resolving differences within financial information.

There is also the possibility of the position becoming permanent beyond the initial contract.

Working as part of the finance team, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and maintaining bank reconciliations.

• Supporting month-end processes, particularly accruals and prepayments.

• Assisting with VAT-related accounting activities.

• Reconciling transactions across multiple currencies.

• Managing detailed supplier and stock-related reconciliations.

• Checking supplier invoices against deposits, payments and agreed terms.

• Investigating discrepancies and ensuring financial information is accurate.

• Using Excel extensively to analyse and reconcile financial data.

• Supporting the wider finance team with ongoing accounting activities.

We’re looking for someone with previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar hands-on finance position.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• Practical experience of accruals, prepayments and bank reconciliations.

• Strong intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including SUMIFS and VLOOKUPs.

• Good attention to detail and the ability to investigate financial discrepancies.

• Confidence working with detailed spreadsheets and large amounts of financial information.

• A proactive approach and the ability to manage your own workload.

Experience with multi-currency accounting, stock accounting or complex supplier payment arrangements would be particularly advantageous, although not essential.

• Salary of £33,000 to £36,000.
