Accounts Assistant / Semi Senior Accountant

A well known and modern firm of Chartered Accountants based in Cambridge are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant / Semi Senior Accountant to join their team. The firm work with a varied portfolio of clients, providing a range of accountancy, taxation, audit and service charge services.

This is a varied general practice role, offering exposure to different areas of accountancy, including accounts preparation, tax, VAT, Making Tax Digital (MTD), audit and service charge accounts. The role would suit someone looking to develop their experience across a range of services, with training and support provided in areas where further development is needed.

The firm are open to candidates at different stages of their career, from those studying towards AAT or ACCA through to more experienced practice professionals. Responsibilities can be tailored to suit the successful candidate’s experience and interests, with the opportunity to gain further exposure to service charge accounts alongside general practice work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Bookkeeping for a range of clients
• Preparation of VAT returns and supporting clients with MTD requirements
• Assisting with accounts preparation, from receiving initial records through to draft accounts
• Preparing personal and corporation tax returns
• Assisting with audit work, depending on experience and interest
• Supporting with service charge accounts and related work, with training provided where required
• Liaising with clients to obtain information and resolve queries
• Supporting clients with general accounting and compliance matters
• Developing knowledge across different areas of accountancy and taking on additional responsibilities as experience grows
