Location: North Nottinghamshire
Salary: £35,000 – £38,000 (DOE)

We are recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join an established and expanding business based inbetween Newark and Mansfield.

This is a broad, hands-on position that bridges transactional finance and senior finance support — ideal for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting involved across the full finance function.

The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you’ll play a key role within a close-knit finance team, supporting the smooth running of day-to-day operations while also assisting with more technical finance responsibilities.

This role offers real exposure and responsibility, making it perfect for someone with solid experience who wants to broaden their skillset and grow with the business.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Managing day-to-day transactional finance processes
• Supporting month-end close and posting journals
• Assisting with budget preparation and forecasting
• Handling payroll and VAT returns
• Working up to trial balance
• Supporting process improvements where possible
• Providing flexible cover across the team during busy periods

This is very much an all-round finance role — not siloed, but varied and involved.

About You:

• Strong finance experience, ideally within an SME environment
• Comfortable working beyond pure ledger duties, including trial balance and month-end support
• Experience with payroll, VAT and journals
• Confident using Excel and finance systems
• Collaborative, approachable and team-oriented
• A stable work history and practical, hands-on mindset
• Car owner / driver due to location
